Discover the Cyclades
The Cyclades are a group of around 220 islands located in the Aegean Sea, southeast of mainland Greece. Famous for their distinctive whitewashed architecture, turquoise waters, and sun-drenched beaches, the islands symbolize Greek island life.
Visitors are drawn to the Cyclades for their stunning landscapes, ancient ruins, and the chance to experience the simplicity and beauty of traditional Greek culture. With a mild Mediterranean climate and clear seas, the Cyclades offer a perfect setting for relaxation, exploration, and immersing yourself in the history and natural beauty of the region.
Itinerary
During the summer, the Cyclades are characterised by the frequent occurrence of strong northerly winds known as the Meltemi.
Though the distances between islands make this a demanding route for a week-long charter, careful route planning that takes wind conditions into account can still allow visits to most of the iconic spots within one week of sailing.
Lavrio is an ideal starting point for exploring the Cyclades. From there, you can choose to sail to Kea or Merichas, the capital of Kythnos. Another highlight on Kythnos is Kolona Bay, where a sandy strip naturally separates two bays, creating a unique setting to visit.
Heading further south, you have the option to explore the islands of Sifnos and Serifos. On Serifos, a stop in Livadi offers access to local tavernas, beaches, and scenic walks up to the hilltop Chora.
Sailing west, consider a stop in the bay between Antiparos and Despotiko to explore the ruins of the Temple of Apollo. From there, you can head to nearby Paros, an island known for its charming white houses, so typical of the Cyclades. Visit Naoussa, or if the northern winds pick up, seek shelter in the island's capital, Parikia.
On your return journey north, take advantage of the sheltered cove in Rineia to anchor for the night. This will put you in close proximity to the impressive ruins of the ancient city of Delos—an archaeological site known for its well preserved temples and mosaics. Don’t miss the chance to visit early in the morning before the tourist ferries arrive.
As you return, consider stopping on the island of Syros, notable for being home to Ermoupoli, the administrative capital of the Cyclades. For crews seeking quieter spots, Finikas in the south is a great alternative. From there, you can embark on a long return journey toward Athens or Lavrio to finish the trip.

I started my sailing adventure with inland cruises, exploring Masuria, which developed into a great passion for water, wind and the sailing lifestyle. The beginning of sea expeditions is primarily the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It was the northern seas of Europe that shaped me as a sailor and as a person.

The last few years have been marked by warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Croatia has become a second home and sailing is a way of life.

After sailing over 40,000 nautical miles, I am very happy to pass on my knowledge and spread my passion for sailing.
